The Wisconsin Badgers are an NCAA Division-I football team that plays in the Big 10 conference. The Badgers represent the University of Wisconsin-Madison and play all of their home games at Camp Randall Stadium. Camp Randall Stadium is the fourth oldest college football stadium in the nation.
The Badgers first took the football field in 1889, losing only two games their entire first season. Fans had high hopes that the team would be successful for seasons to come. However, the very next season the Wisconsin Badgers suffered an embarrassing 63-0 loss to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, starting the one of the oldest and most played college football rivalries in the NCAA Division-I. Today the Minnesota-Wisconsin rivalry is played annually for the Paul Bunyan's Axe Award.
After the first defeat by the Minnesota Golden Gophers the Badgers picked themselves up and went on to join the Big 10 conference. Like most teams the Wisconsin Badgers have had ups and downs and have enjoyed eras of great success and winning, but have also seen rebuilding years and loss. In total, the Wisconsin Badgers have seen postseason play in 20 bowl games. The Badgers have also 8 Heisman Trophy nominees and 2 Heisman Trophy winners. Currently there are over 30 former Wisconsin Badgers roster members playing in the NFL, including Mark Tauscher who plays for the Green Bay Packers.
