Brandon O’Neil Chillar was born in Los Angeles, California on October 21, 1982. He attended Carlsbad High School in Carlsbad, California. There he received first-team all-state selection. He was also named San Diego Union-Tribune defensive player of the year and was selected to play in the California-Texas Shrine game and the California-Florida Bowl. He was a star at linebacker and tight end and was named to the North County Times team of the decade.

He attended college at UCLA. At UCLA he started 35 out of 49 games. Brandon Chillar had a career total of 255 tackles, 12 sacks, 27 ½ tackles for loss, five fumble recoveries, three interceptions, eight passes defended and two blocked kicks. As a senior in 2003 Brandon Chillar earned first-team All-Pack 10 honors. He started every game at outside linebacker and led the team with a career-high 133 tackles. The 133 tackles were the most in a season by a Bruin since 1989.

In 2004 Brandon Chillar was drafted by the St. Louis Rams. He was chosen in the 4th round and was 130th overall. Brandon Chillar made his first career start during the season opener vs. Arizona on September 12th. Chillar played in all 16 games and started five during his rookie year. Most of his playing time was on special teams. During the 2005 season Chillar again played all 16 games and started seven for the St. Louis Rams. He had 61 tackles, one pass defended, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Brandon also had 11 special teams’ tackles. In the 2006 season he started in 14 games and missed his first game due to a lower leg injury. In 2006 he had 85 tackles, 2 ½ sacks, three forced fumbles and four passes defended for the St. Louis Rams. On March 18, 2008 Brandon Chillar was signed by the Green Bay Packers. Brandon was signed to a two year $5.2 million contract. The following year, Chillar was rewarded with a four-year contract, this time for $22.65 million contract with $7 million guaranteed.
