Bryan Bulaga was born in Barrington, Illinois and grew up playing football, baseball, and basketball at Marian Central Catholic High in Woodstock, Illinois. He was a varsity letterwinner and a two-time captain of the football team. Bryan Bulaga was recognized by the Illinois High School Football Coaches Association, Champaign News Gazette, and the Chicago Tribune as a first-team all-state player.
Bryan Bulaga began his college career with Iowa in 2007 and saw action from the start. He played in 7 games with 5 starts and Sporting News named him to to Freshman All-Big Ten. By 2008, sophomore Bryan Bulaga was a left tackle and started all 13 games. His stats were quiet but impressive: out of the 835 total snaps Bryan Bulaga partcipated in, he was penalized only two times. Also, out of the 320 pass plays, he only allowed 1.5 sacks.
By junior year, Bryan Bulaga was drawing a huge fan base. Though he missed the first three games with a thyroid condition, he bounced back to start the remaining 10. Sporting News named Bryan Bulaga the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year and he was a first-team All-America selection.
After his 2009 junior season, Bryan Bulaga opted to enter the NFL draft early. In April 2010, he was the 23rd overall pick and went to the Green Bay Packers. Bryan Bulaga is a strong player with great potential in the NFL. At the end of the season, Bulaga was named to the NFL All-Rookie team for his outstanding performance.
