Desmond Lamont Bishop was born July 24th 1984 in San Francisco, California. A natural athlete, Desmond Bishop played football and basketball in high school but decided that football was the passion he wanted to follow. At Fairfield High School in Fairfield, California, Desmond Bishop was a standout athlete playing both linebacker and fullback. As a senior at Fairfield High School Desmond Bishop was selected to play in the California North-South Shrine All-Star Game.

After high school, Desmond Bishop spent the 2003 and 2004 football seasons at City College of San Francisco where he started his collegiate career out with a undefeated season and a trip to the national championship where CCSF took the title. As a second year returning roster member for City College of San Francisco, Desmond Bishop was ranked the 4th best community college football player in the nation and was awarded California’s Junior College Defensive Player of the Year. After completing two years of junior college, Desmond Bishop transferred to the University of California where he immediately was given a starting position. Desmond Bishop started all 12 games his junior season and picked up Second-Team All-Pac 10 honors. As a senior at the University of California Desmond Bishop started all 13 games and was named Third-team All-American by Rivals.com. He led both his team and conference in tackles and was placed on the top of several NFL coaches watch lists.

In the 2007 NFL draft, Desmond Bishop was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the 6th round. In his rookie season, Desmond Bishop played 10 games from the Green Bay Packers schedule and pulled down 10 tackles. During the 2008 season, Desmond Bishop saw playing time in 15 games, one of which he started and he made 27 tackles. In 2010, Bishop stepped into the starting middle linebacker position for the remaining 12 games. During Super Bowl XLV, Bishop also recovered a crucial fumble which was a key play in the Packers' 31-25 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Desmond had already signed a four year deal, worth $19 million, with the Packers in January, 2011.
