Jake Allen
Ijathus Illimski “Jake” Allen was born January 19, 1985 in Laurel, Mississippi. Jake Allen began his football career at Wayne County High School in Waynesboro, Mississippi where he was a wide receiver. With Jake Allen’s help the Wayne County High School football team won the 2002 Mississippi 5A state championship. Immediately after high school, Jake Allen went to play football at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Jake Allen transferred to Mississippi College a small private Christian college where he began to play football on a larger scale and really began to be noticed by other players, coaches and leagues. In 2005 Jake Allen finished his sophomore season with 39 catches for 589 yards and six touchdowns but Jake Allen wasn’t done yet. He went on to become the only receiver in conference history to go over 1,000 yards in a season. Helping him hit this mark were 5 games where he caught for over 100 yards receiving. In 2006 Jake Allen was honorable mention All-American and as a senior in 2007 he received the honor All-American status from the American Football Coaches Association and D3football.com Jake Allen left Mississippi College with records for receptions (152), receiving yards (2, 867), and is tied for the touchdown record (12). Jake Allen did not go to the NFL draft but was signed anyway by the Green Bay Packers on May 2, 2008 as a non-drafted free agent. He spent the 2008 season on the practice squad but was resigned to the Green Bay Packers on December 30, 2008 as reserve/future contract.
