James DeAndre Jones was born in San Jose, California on March 31, 1984. James Jones attended Gunderson High School where he lettered in basketball, track and football. As a senior, James Jones was named MVP for his stellar performance quarterbacking the Gunderson High School football team. This kind of positive attention was just what James Jones needed, especially after a difficult upbringing bouncing between homeless shelters before finally settling in with his grandmother. James Jones clearly found his niche at an early age and has thrown himself passionately into football ever since.

As a senior at San Jose State James Jones caught 70 passes totaling 893 yards and 10 touchdowns. James Jones was named offensive MVP of the inaugural New Mexico Bowl because he caught 6 passes for 106 yards and made two touchdowns. After the New Mexico Bowl, James Jones was invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, an honor that he was very excited about.

James Jones performed to the extreme during the NFL Combine training. James Jones tied the NFL combine record for bench presses by a wide receiver with 22 reps of 225 pounds.

James Jones certainly caught the eye of many coaches at the NFL Combine that year. James Jones as promptly picked up by the Green Bay Packers and started in the first Green Bay Packers game of the 2007 season. He caught 4 passes for 29 yards. James Jones scored his first-ever professional touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings at the Metrodome. James Jones was named Diet Pepsi 2007 Rookie of the Week for games played on October 28-29 against the Denver Broncos. James Jones finished the year with 47 receptions and 676 yards. He also had two touchdown receptions. Due to injuries James Jones didn’t have a great 2008 Green Bay Packers football season. Fortunately, James Jones bounced back well. In 2009, James Jones competed in all 16 Green Bay Packers football games. James Jones even had 3 starts that year and pulled in 32 catches totaling 440 yards. During the 2010-11 NFL season and Super Bowl XLV championship, Jones was once again a key player for Green Bay.
