Jamon Meredith
James Jamon Meredith was born May 11, 1986 in Simpsonville, South Carolina. Jamon Smith started playing football at Southside High School in Simpsonville where he played several different positions. He then transferred to Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville where played offensive tackle as a junior. During his senior year of high school he played defensive end and was named All-Conference. In 2005 Jamon Meredith began his NCAA collegiate career at the University of South Carolina where he played right tackle for the Gamecocks. As a freshman he started in four games making crucial plays in the games against Kentucky and Missouri. As a sophomore Jamon Meredith started in all 13 games, the first seven as a right tackle before switching to left tackle for his last six games. He was also presented with an Academic award at the of season. In 2007 he was named the Gamecock’s Outstanding Offensive Lineman, starting all 12 games at left tackle. He was the ESPN Academic All-District III pick. In 2008 he sat out two games as per an agreement with the NCAA to grant him a redshirt year despite the fact that he played true freshman, although he made no recordable actions in that game. He went on to finish the season with 9 starts in 11 games and was asked to play in the East-West Shrine Game at the end of the season. Jamon Meredith was selected as the 162 overall draft pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Green Bay Packers in 5th round.
