2011 - JASON SPITZ AGREED TO MULTI-YEAR CONTRACT WITH JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
Jason Russell Spitz was born in Boardman Ohio. His father, Russell Spitz, played nose guard at Yale University. Jason Attended high school at Bolles High School in Jacksonville Fla. There he was a first-team All-First Coast selection as a two-way lineman in football. As a senior Spitz finished with 10 sacks and 56 total tackles to earn second-team All-State honors from the Florida Times-Union.
Jason Spitz played college football for the University of Louisville. He was a four-year starter at guard and earned postseason honors his final three seasons. As a freshman he started five straight games before suffering a torn medial collateral ligament in his left knee. As a sophomore Jason started all 13 games at right guard and was named second-team All-Conference USA. As a junior he started all 12 games at right guard and was named second-team All-Conference USA for the second time. As a senior at University of Louisville Jason Spitz earned first-team All-Big East Conference honors as a senior.
Jason Spitz was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 2006 NFL draft. Spitz made his NFL debut in the 2006 season opener against the Chicago Bears. During that game he sustained a right thigh bruise and missed the next two games. Jason regained his starting position against St. Louis Rams on October 8th. He was taken to the hospital at half time during that game because he was throwing up blood. Spitz was diagnosed with a minor tear in his esophagus and returned to full practice the next week. During the 2007 season Jason Spitz played in 14 games and started 12 of them. He suffered a calf injury in the third preseason game and missed the last game. He returned to practice for Week 1. On October 14th Jason Spitz made his first career start at center against the Washington Red Skins.
In 2009, Jason Spitz competed in 5 games with 4 starts. He was injured frequently and had back pain.
