Jeremy David Kapinos was born August 23, 1984 in West Point, New York. The son of a retired U.S. Army Colonel and former collegiate athlete, Jeremy Kapinos grew up in a football family. As a high school student, Jeremy Kapinos played both football and soccer. As the goalie for his soccer team, he helped the West Springfield High School men’s soccer team win the 2001 state championship. On the West Springfield High School football team, Jeremy Kapinos was the team’s punter. Coached by former Green Bay Packers roster member Bill Renner, Jeremy Kapinos averaged 46 yards a punt with his longest punt at 75 yards.
After high school, Jeremy Kapinos went to Penn State University where he took a redshirt as a true freshman to gain skill and experience with NCAA football. In 2003 when he made his collegiate debut he came out ready to prove he had what it took, in 68 punts he averaged 41.9 yards setting the school record for a freshman punter. When he returned his sophomore year Jeremy Kapinos he continued to prove he had what it would take to be a great player, he averaged 41.8 yards on 61 punts and sent a career best 78 yard punt sailing to set a school record for 2nd longest punt. In 2005 his average yards per punt dipped just slightly to 41.3 yards in 61punts but he placed 22 punts within the 20 yard line. As a senior in the 2006 football season, Jeremy Kapinos was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award and was a Third Team All American selection.
In the 2007 draft, Jeremy Kapinos was signed by the New York Jets as a non drafted rookie free agent on July 2nd 2007. Jeremy Kapinos was waived by the Jets early in their training camp but was signed to their practice squad in November and then to the active roster in the last month of the 2007 NFL season. Then in the 2008 season he battled with the Jets starting punter for game time, Jeremy Kapinos was released from his contract prior to the training camp. The Green Bay Packers signed punter Jeremy Kapinos as a free agent for the last four games of the season. On the Green Bay Packers roster he posted 39.2 yards in 17 punts.
