Mark Gerald Tauscher was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin on June 17, 1977. He attended Auburndale High School and there he lettered three times in football, basketball, and baseball. While playing football he was a two time All-Conference honoree and a tow time All-State honoree. As a senior at Auburndale H.S. Mark Tauscher was named MVP of his football team.
Mark Tauscher played college football for the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Tauscher finally lettered in football his junior year at U of W-Madison. During his senior year he became a starter at right tackle.
During the 2000 NFL Draft Tauscher was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round. He became a starter early in his rookie season. During the second game of the 2002 season Mark Tauscher suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament and a torn anterior cruciate ligament. He underwent surgery and missed the rest of the season. Tauscher made a successful comeback and has started every game since his return in 2003. Mark Tauscher was named the Green Bay Packers’ 2008 Walter Payton Man of the Year. He was also voted the Green Bay Packers’ 2008 Ed Block Courage Award. During the 13th game of the 2008 season against the Houston Texans Tauscher suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and missed the reaming three NFL games.
