Michael Lewis Montgomery II was born August 18th 1983 in Carthage, Texas. He started his football career at Center High School where he was a two year letter winner. As a senior he was named Tri-Defensive Player of the Year after only two seasons of high school football. He was named All-District and All-State.

Immediately after high school, Michael Montgomery went to Navarro Junior College where he played two years of football. In his first season at Navarro Junior College, Michael Montgomery pulled down 75 tackles including one sack. In his second season at Navarro, only his 4th season of playing football, he made 56 solo tackles and one sack with one fumble recovery. He was also named First Team Junior College All American. After two years with Navarro, Michael Montgomery transferred to Texas A&M to play football for the Aggies. In his first season with an NCAA Division-I football team, Michael Montgomery played in 10 of 12 games and recorded 45 tackles. As a senior with the Aggies, Michael Montogomery started all 12 games including the Cotton Bowl in the postseason. He posted 78 tackles with 12 for loss and was named one of the teams captains as well as receiving the “Aggie Heart Award”.

In the 2005 NFL draft, Michael Montgomery was selected in the 6th round by the Green Bay Packers. In his rookie season on the Green Bay Packers roster, he was played in 12 games and recorded 25 tackles including one sack for the special teams. In his second season with the Green Bay Packers he played in 11 games as a reserve defensive end, only missing games due to injury. He pulled in 26 tackles and 1.5 sacks for the season. Michael Montgomery was listed as injured on the Green Bay Packers roster for the first half of the 2007 season after sustaining a knee injury but played in the last 9 games of the season, posting 22 tackles. In 2008 Michael Montgomery had his best season as a Green Bay Packers player, he played in 14 games, starting in 8 and pulled down a career high of 71 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
