Morgan Burnett was born in East Point, Georgia and attended North Clayton High School in College Park, Georgia. Morgan Burnett was a strong young football player who earned high marks from Rivals.com. Morgan Burnett was considered by Rivals.com to be the number 6 player in Georgia, the seventh best safety in the U.S., and 84th best player in the country.
After high school, Morgan Burnett headed to Georgia Tech. Morgan Burnett, as a true freshman, totaled 57 tackles (37 solo) and three interceptions, making him top on the team in that latter category.
As a sophomore in 2008, Morgan Burnett was a 13 game starter who was also recipient of first-team All-America honors from The NFL Draft Report. Morgan Burnett was number one in Georgia Tech with total tackles (93) and solo tackles (62).
In 2009, Morgan Burnett was a team captain and played in all 14 games though 4 were played in with a cast on his hand due to a broken thumb. Morgan Burnett was such a great catch that the Green Bay Packers traded up 15 spots in the third round of the draft in order to select him for their fine establishment. Unfortunately Burnett tore his ACL in October and missed the rest of his rookie season.
